The Initiative Congratulations Recent Graduates!

We are very proud to announce students who completed their undergraduate studies! The Initiative would like to congratulate these young women for their hard work and academic achievements; and would like to thank Initiative donors and partner universities that gave these young women the opportunity to excel in their undergraduate education!

 

 

Wasima Shinwari (Russell Sage 2016) graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Biology. She is currently at Weil Cornell Medicine in New York, NY where she researches mycobacterium tuberculosis and mycobacterium smegmatis to discover new treatments for tuberculosis. Wasima also continues her work on the Speech Therapy Project of Afghanistan, an initiative she launched to provide speech pathology training to medical students and doctors in Afghanistan via Skype. 

 

 

Ihrar Mohammadi (Russell Sage 2016) also graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Political Science.  She is currently working as a legislative intern in the New York State Senate as she applies to graduate school.

 

 

Madiha Samadi (University of Pennsylvania 2017) graduated cum laude with a degree in Economics and minor in Statistics at The Wharton School. Currently, Madiha is leveraging her summer internship experience in business development and research at Afghanistan Holding Group working for the Philadelphia technology startup Alpha Vate as she weighs graduate school options.

 

 

Husnia Aziz (Russell Sage 2017) graduated cum laude with a degree in Business.  She is currently living in Pakistan as she prepares for graduate school.

 

 

Mursal Tura (Meredith College 2017) completed her studies, with a degree in Business Accounting and Computer Science from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.
