Kobra Ahmadi Memorial Award Established

Kobra Ahmadi (Randolph College 2010)

The Kobra Ahmadi Memorial Award for Academic and Leadership Excellence was established through a generous pledge by Leadership Academy instructor Daphne Bui Wales in memory of her sister, Penelope. This cash award, presented each year to an outstanding program participant, honors the life and accomplishments of Kobra Ahmadi (Randolph College 2010), an outstanding student, activist and young professional whose life ended tragically during a business trip to Tehran shortly after she completed with distinction the MSc Public Policy degree at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, in 2012).

Wasima Shinwari (Russell Sage College 2016) received the award for her outstanding academic accomplishments in biology and for her innovative extracurricular work as co-founder of the Speech Therapy Project in Afghanistan.

Madiha Samadi (University of Pennsylvania 2017) received the award for her excellent academic accomplishments in economics and statistics as well as her outstanding summer internship at Afghanistan Holding Group and as a fellow at the Penn Perry World House in Philadelphia.
