Students in Marianne Gedigian’s flute studio at the University of Texas at Austin partnered with high school students from Jennifer Keeney’s Creative Flutist Service Ensemble to present a benefit concert at the Butler School of Music in Austin, Texas. Students designed and led the event; and fundraised for The Initiative, stating that “The arts have the power to speak to the human condition and unite audiences under a universal purpose. We believe education should be a basic inalienable right for all human beings.”

Through online ticket sales and fundraising sites, students exceeded the $5,000 match challenge and raised over $6,170 from 49 donors for a total of $11,170 to provide international round trip travel for some of The Initiative’s students this year!

“The arts have the power to speak to the human condition and unite audiences under a universal purpose. We believe education should be a basic inalienable right for all human beings.”
