The Initiative To Educate Afghan Women is an education and leadership development program working to create the next generation of women leaders in Afghanistan. We partner with leading US colleges and universities to deliver higher education, as well as provide training and guidance for graduates helping other Afghan women assume leadership roles in their homeland.
Established in 2003 as a grassroots non-profit organization, we are solely funded by private donations. Our mission and proven programs demonstrate the power an educated woman can and will use to create meaningful and lasting change in Afghanistan.

OUR CORE VALUES
The Initiative To Educate Afghan Women makes a difference by advancing young women of extraordinary academic performance and demonstrated dedication to public service, who are willing and able to return to Afghanistan each summer and after completion of their education. The women of The Initiative wish to become part of a strong network of educated women in Afghanistan helping other women and working for positive change in the development of their homeland.
Admission to our program is by application only. Ours is a small, highly competitive program funded entirely by private donations with a very limited number of places to offer each year.
